Bike for Kam

About the Project

Bike for Kam is about a group of friends coming together to complete a coastal bike tour from San Francisco to Santa Monica (Los Angeles) on April 25 to April 29, 2011. The purpose of their journey is to raise funds and awareness for Kam, and for all those afflicted with HIBM (Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy). Through this project we hope to raise awareness of HIBM, so that we may soon find a cure for this rare genetic muscle debilitating, and degenerative condition. A cure is within reach!

As a grassroots project, all the work has been voluntarily created by the team below. Kam and Steve lead the creative direction of all design and PR materials, and each rider is volunteering their enthusiasm and time during the trip. The bike project has required a lot of time, work and (our own) money, but its has been a labor of love, and a lot of fun! Please, take the time to get to know us. We invite you to share our story. The fun is just beginning!

Comic Challenge

I wanna play comic artist for a bit and see how far I can go. This scene is from a comic I read a long time ago. It has ninjas, sexy lady, and some crazy action. If you know where this sequence is from, you would know it's a hard scene to follow. It was drawn by one of my favorite comic artist. Enjoy!

Fast Forward

This piece was fun, exhilarating, and scary all at the same time. The day was a flurry of moving about: curry lunch, fabric selecting, afternoon tea, the word "fancy", kinokuniya, shopping, and finally sketching/dinner at the guppy. While chatting it up and stuffing my face I doodled up the rough of this sketch. Then came the james dean moment in Rebel Without a Cause or Marty Mcfly moment from Back to the Future. Am I chicken. Drawings that involve more than two people generally hit the shitter for me cause I begin to freak out and get overwhelmed by all that is going on. Usually even if I did a decent final sketch once the inks go on, all the flaws reveal themselves. All of which happened in this drawing by the way. Oh my god the patient is bleeding out! Flat line. I decided to keep myself calm and keep chatting it up distracting myself from panicking. Concentrating on one character at a time helped, though half way in I had forgotten to organize my blacks. Duh! That and lotsa people are in midair given I didn't really plan where they were standing he he he. Proportions are crazy too. But overall, I liked the piece and learned a bunch doing it. No putting myself down when I'm done. It's important to learn what is gained sometimes so to know to do more of that next time.
Sorry for my horrible grammar and run on sentences. If it bothers you, look at all the pretty pictures. I do it all the time. I own like how many books and which one have I read lol.

Good sketching day

Tonight the sketching was good. Maybe it's the relaxation of chatting about any and everything with friends, or the busy atmosphere of a crowded cafe, better yet, it could be a magical pen the waiter dropped off with our bill. But man I haven't hit such a rhythm with my drawing in a long while as I did tonight. It just flowed onto the paper no nonsense, no figuring it out, no oh shit I better make sure it looks right. The drawings weren't perfect but it felt right drawing them. After I was done with one it was...well ok now let's try something harder, and harder until I fuck up real bad. I sorta stole the pen. It's not really stealing if I left a far nicer drawing pencil in exchange right?
